INNOVATIONS & IMPROVEMENTS

MONT SAINT-SAUVEUR INTERNATIONAL IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE
A LOT OF INNONVATIONS AND INVESTMENTS FOR THE 2008-2009 SKI SEASON

Saint-Sauveur, Tuesday September 16th 2008
- A fresh wind is blowing through the MSSI stations for the pleasure of our snow lovers. Here is a summary of the numerous innovations in each stations of MSSI group.

We are proud to announce the installation of a new quad chair which will be equipped with a loading carpet. Mont Saint-Sauveur is the only mountain in Quebec benefiting from a new chairlift this year! This new acquisition will be replacing the triple chair “Nordique” and will be in operation by the beginning of the 2008-2009 ski season. Those projects, added to the improvement of the snow making system, will add up to more than 2 million dollars in investments.

Second of all, our skiers will benefit from the joy of our huge four-season terrace which will be equipped with a heating floor. Recently rebuilt to the tune of $500,000, the half-moon wooden terrace now houses a fountain that, in the winter, transforms into an outdoor fireplace to warm up skiers and snowboarders. Furthermore, at the beginning of the spring ski season, the new pool-spa will be opened to everyone to relax in an enchanting atmosphere.

Mont Saint-Sauveur celebrates, this year, the 75th anniversary of the “Côte 70”. This track which hosted the very first real chairlift in the world is an important symbol of the Saint-Sauveur Valley region. Be sure that this historical moment will be underlined by some events and activities by the beginning of the month of March.

Again this year, Mont Avila’s staff works hard on the improvement of its “MSS SNOPRK”, one of the biggest snowpark in Quebec equipped with a half-moon of a gigantic size. Along with its reputation of the jet-set station for young snow lovers, the mountain offers a big events and activities calendar. Don’t miss the return of the Wednesday Nights “Snow Jam”, a friendly competition with music in the “MSS SNOWPRK”.

Known for its glades and its natural atmosphere, Ski Morin Heights introduce a new track intended for the 6-12 years old. The “364” , named after the road that leads to the hill, is a long corridor of  20 feet large which passes through the forest. Inaugurated last year in the half-season, most of skiers will discover this new track only this coming year.

Directly accessible through Ski Morin Heights tracks, the Morin Heights Nature Cabins is an original and fun way to stay close to the mountain for one night or more. Nested on a small hill, the site suggests 20 wooden houses fully equipped in which you can stay even during winter. It combines the intimacy of a journey in nature and the comfort of having access to water and electricity. The cabins offer conveniences such as a small kitchen, a bathroom and a shower. The site also suggests a 150 kilometers trail of cross-country skiing and a 14 kilometers trail of snowshoes. Made to accommodate 5 persons at a time, those cabins are perfect for having a great time with friends and family in the beautiful region of the Laurentians.

For the pleasure of our snow lovers, the family ski station renovated its Customer Service area to add more space. The second floor cafeteria was also changed which will provide a great atmosphere at lunch time.

A new glade between the Saint-Anton track and the Saint-Moritz will be opening. A new access to the Chamonix track will also be available by the unloading dock of the “C” chairlift. Finally, the snow making system was ameliorated featuring the purchase of snow guns.

Known for its implication into the acrobatic ski world, the mountain announce the return of the NORAM competitions that will be taking place January 10th and 11th  2009 for the NORAM jumps and January 17th and 18th 2009 for the NORAM moguls. All the athletes of the Québec Team and the National Development team will be reunited for this important competition. All of the athletes represent some of the best hopefuls for the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games.

Furthermore, a whole new edition of the Canada Post Freestyle Grand Prix will take place on  January 23rd, 24th and 25th 2009.  Titles will be on the line during the mogul and aerial competitions. Both events will be preceded by an opening show on Friday.

In order to bring our Gatineau Mountain the MSSI level of standards, we are proud to announce the arrival of a new Mountain Director. Jean-Sebastien Saia, with more than 18 years of experience in the ski industry, promised to perfect the mountain which already won the Grand Prix du Tourisme de l’Outaouais last year.

Edelweiss bought a lot of new equipments for the next ski season. They got a new BR which will be exclusively used on the snowpark which will improve the efficacy by 50%. Also, 20 snow guns were added to ensure a long and pleasant ski season.

For the first time, Edelweiss will offer night skiing 7 days a week since the mountain will open on Sunday nights. Enjoy!
